BBS CDM & Health & Safety Services provides core services to complement BBS Environmental and BBS Building Control. Drawing on the considerable knowledge and experience of our specialists we can add invaluable enhancement to our other services.

 

BBS Site Services provide CDM services utilising the knowledge gained by our experienced team. BBS has provided CDM related services across a broad spectrum of construction sectors and continue to do so by offering the roles of:-

 

Principal Designers have an important role in influencing how risks to health and safety are managed and need be appointed on most commercial and domestic projects. The role incorporates:

  • Advising and assisting the client in procuring pre-construction information;
  • Working with the design team to eliminate, reduce or control foreseeable health and safety risks;
  • Ensure there is appropriate communication and cooperation between all parties during the pre-construction phase;
  • And liaison with the Principal Contractor to keep them informed of any risks that need to be controlled during the construction phase.

The provision of a CDM health and safety advisory service to the Client, assisting them in fulfilling their role, i.e:

  • Assisting with the production of the Clients’ brief and the consultant and contractor selection process;
  • Ensuring relevant surveys are commissioned;
  • Collation of relevant pre-construction information and making sure it is issued to relevant parties;
  • Ensuring CDM management arrangements are in place and remain relevant via ‘Site Audits’;
  • Undertake construction phase plan review;
  • Manage the F10 notification process;
  • Ensure both the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor comply with their duties;
  • Review the Health and Safety File for compliance.

The provision of construction advisor to the Principal Contractors working for both commercial and domestic Clients, i.e:

  • Assisting them fulfil the Client duties as described above and assist them with the preparation and production of construction phase plan (required for all construction projects including domestic client work);
  • Fire plans, risk assessments and method statements;
  • Assisting with their legal requirement to provide information, instruction, training and supervision;
  • Identifying skills gaps and assist in training provision.

The provision of Principal Designer consultancy services as a nominated sub-consultant to designers appointed as Principal Designer. We support them with CDM compliance by providing the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to fulfil the role and incorporate the production of CDM documentation required from the Principal Designer.
